Luigi Vitalio has taken his second win of the season after finishing ahead of an unlcky Mikko Heininen. Gus Addison finished in 3rd to extend his world championship lead. Once again the race saw the demise of many drivers.

Mikko Heininen had started on pole for the third time this season, however was beaten to the line by Luigi Vitalio. Jewel Barclay who was running in fourth hit the wall, therfore blocking the track for a number of drivers. Daniel Bruner, Will Spargrove, and Gene Lund were among those who had their wings knocked off. A lap later Ivan Pruett hit the same wall, immedietly ending his race. As the race begun to settle down, Vitalio, Heininen, and Addison led the field by over thirty seconds. All three were fighting for the lead. Cristiano de Costa was very lucky to not be injured as he was flipped by Rico Rendon; the Italian spun into the air hitting multiple walls.

Meanwhile Mike Nadaruk had a brake failure, resulting in a third succesvive retirement for the German. Will Spargrove who had made his way up into 13th hit the wall, ending another race in a dissapointing first season with Fast Orange. Stuart Watts was next to crash into the wall.

At the front Gus Addison had fallen several seconds behing the top two, making the fight for the win between Luigi Vitalio and Mikko Heininen. Heininen had begun to produce very quick lap times, slowly catching the Lamborghini driver. Heinen found a lip stream and passed Vitalio in a stunning overtake. However Vitalio was not giving up on the win, keeping his distance to the Peugeot driver. On the second last lap Mikko Heininen was very unlucky to tag his car with Petro Vitali who was suffering from a gearbox failure. While Heininen spun and regained control, Vitalio had re-taken the lead.

Lugi Vitalio won the race to bring himself into contention of the world championship. While Heininen and Addison completed the podium, the Subaru's of Kyle Aroni and Mika Salonen finished a solid 4th and 5th. Kurtis Villareal completed the race in 6th, ahead of James Malva, Alva Askew, and Nicky Espinosa. German driver Niklas Shultz claimed his first ever point in 10th place.

Driver Reaction

Luigi Vitalio (1st)
Lamborghini
"I am very happy with today's result as it is a much needed win for me. I had a good fight with Mikko and then capitalised when he made contact with one of the Holden's. It has been and up and won season so far, so I seek another victory in Spain".

Mikko Heininen (2nd)
Peugeot
"This result means my best race of the season, however it could of been a win if Petro Vitali didn't swerve into me. For us we are throwing away to many points, I have taken three poles this season but no win yet. ".

Gus Addison (3rd)
Fast Orange-Holden
"I feel the race wen't ok for me, I woul have liked a bit more pace to challenge the top two, though they drove well. There was a bit of trouble with backmarkers here and there, so I think a lot of us were losing time. The race was good and I have only extended my lead in the championship".
