Brazilian Luiz Santos has won his second race in a row in a stormy and chaotic Chinese Grand Prix. Championship leader Gus Addison finished in a surprising 2nd place, while Ivan Pruett finished in 3rd; completing an all champion podium. Mikko Heinine initially bet pole sitter Santos off the line and led most stages of the race.

There was carnage as James Malva had a brake failure and speared into the back of Stuart Watts Adepto; forcing the British driver into a third succesive retirment. The rain had become heavier with Mikko Heininen increasing his lead over the Lamborghini pair of Santos and Vitalio. Very soon everyone was forced to pit for wet tyres; Heininen retianed the lead while Jewel Barclay lost out on four places. The next couple of laps included a critical moment for the race lead. Jean Alaniz lost control of his Vagabong and smashed into the rear of race leader Heininen. Alaniz was able to continue while the Heininen was left without a likely win.

Kyle Aroni was also stugling fro grip; plowing into the back of Luigi Vitalio, while the Vehi Cross drivers of Crisitiano de Costa and Saurabh Shah collided at the same corner. Mike Nadaruk, Alvaro Magellen made contact, ending both driver's races.

Luiz Santos survived the chaos to win infront of Mika Salonen. Unfortuently Salonen was forced to drop from seventh place afer recieving a time penalty due to the crash at last weekends Australian Grand Prix. This had promoted Gus Addison to 2nd, Ivan Pruett 3rd, Will Spargrove 4th, Jewel Barclay 5th, and Daniel Bruner 6th. Kurtis Villareal, Petro Vitali and Jean Alaniz completed the top ten.

Driver Reaction

Luiz Santos (1st)
Lamborghini
"It was a difficult race and very wet, so we were not to sure when the right time to pit was. I managed to close up to Heininen during the pit stop, but then I saw his car in the gravel. I think we are in a good postion and the team did a great job today. I look forward to India.".

Gus Addison (2nd)
Fast Orange-Holden
"Today was all about keeping on the road. I was dissapointed after qualifying to be in eighth place, however I am happy to finish second. There were cars going off everywhere, I wasn't sure if the race was going to be stopped. I think with three races in, Lamborghini seem to be our main rivals".

Ivan Preutt (3rd)
Peugeot
"A great race today and surprised to be in third to be honest. Unfortuently Mikko could not take the win for Peugeot as he was knocked out by Alaniz I think. The team did well today, especially in sich bad conditions. I think third is the best we could have got".
