Rico Rendon has taken a shock victory for Koenigsegg after an exiting and strategic race. Petro Viatli finished the race in a brilliant 2nd place, while Mike Nadaruk completed an unusual podium in 3rd. Mikko Heininen had secured pole, while the Nakley of Daniel Bruner qualified 2nd.

It was a monsoon start to the race with many cars struggling to get off the line on wet tyres. Will Spargrove made a great start from firth to third, while Alva Askew crashed out on the first lap. During the first few laps there were many changed for position between Addison, Vitalio, Heininen and Spargrove; while Daniel Bruner had built a four second lead. As the conditions worsened drivers were forced to pit for monsoon tyres, however backmarker drivers pitted a lap earlier. There was carnage in the pits as championship leader Gus Addison aquaplaned into the wall. Niklas Shultz was lucky to not hit a pit crew as he spun when driving into the pits. After the pit stops the race order had changed significantly. Rico Rendon was leadding ahead of Jean Alaniz and th two Holden's. At this stage no Lamborghini, Peugeot or Fast Orange was in a point scoring position.

The conditions had started to improve and unusually it was the Koenigsegg of Rico Rendon and the Vagabond of Jean Alaniz fighting for the race lead. Drivers were forced to pit again, with Jean Alaniz passing Rendon during the pit stops. Sadly the Frenchman pulled over to then side of the track from a suspected suspenion failure; this had handed the lead back to Rendon.

Rico Rendon seemed to be in control of the race, however was being caught from the Holden's and Mike Nadaruk towards the end of the race. Rico Rendon took Koenigsegg's first ever victory in GPC, ahead of James Malva who had recieved a time penalty and demoted to 7th. This promoted Petro Vitali to 2nd and Mike Nadaruk to 3rd. Mika Salonen held on to an impressive 4th place ahead of Luigiio Vitalio in 5th. Heininen, Barclay, Santos and Villareal completed the top ten in a hectic bunch of final laps.

Driver Reaction

Rico Rendon (1st)
"What a race, I am so happy to take another win and the first for Koenigsegg. I never imagined taking a win, it's fantastic. The team did so well with my straegy today which gave me a compfortable lead over the others. We as a team struggle a bit, today we got a deserved and unexpected win".

Petro Vitali (2nd)
"Well somehow I'm up here (laughs). We did our nornal business but it was so tricky with what the weather might do. We made the right calls and it has paid off. It's been a long time since I was last on a podium. Hopefully these past few races that have been strong for me will help me in securing a drive for next season".

Mike Nadaruk (3rd)
"I wan't to thank the team for this oppurunity, they surely put me in a strong postion for the final stint. I was looking at having a go at Petro and than I think Rico had a trouble up front, so maybe we might have won. All in all I am very happy with a podium, and what you may say was completly unexpected. Teams like Lamborghini and Fast Orange and Peugeot and Nakley and team's like that are very strong and faster than us. So today gave us a better oppurtunity and was very exiting to drive today".
