After months of speculation and insisting the rumors were not true; Nakley have confirmed that they will be racing with Nissan engines from next season onwards.

Nakley have with Peugeot engines since Season Five; however this partnership looks set to end at the end of the current season. It is believed Nakley were looking for more independence, since receiving engines from one of their biggest championship rivals; Peugeot.

This will mark the first time Nissan will enter the sport; however it is believed that the Japanese manufacturer will only supply their engines to Nakley.

"This is very exiting news for everyone here at the team. It put's excitement into everyone about the prospects of teaming up with Nissan. We still have one season left with Peugeot, and we thank them for their efforts and support. However a new era will begin, with Nissan", said a Nakley spokesperson.

Despite the renouncement, it is yet to be confirmed how long the deal is; many speculating for ten seasons.

Just as Peugeot lose Nakley as a customer; they may be set to lose a driver to the Australian team too. It is well known that Nakley are eagerly trying to lure Mikko Heininen to the team. If Heininen joins Nakley, this will mean either Daniel Bruner of most likely Jewel Barclay will have to leave the team.
